Post Credits to Fatima Asad: Here's her blog

I had no idea what a logline was, before my teacher mentioned it in class, and would probably have remained clueless my whole life if it weren't for my spontaneous decision to take Media Studies as my 5th subject.

Definition :

The definition that pops up when you type logline in the google search bar is :

A logline is a one-sentence summary or description of a movie. Loglines distill the important elements of your screenplay—main character, setup, central conflict, antagonist—into a clear, concise teaser.

Examples :

To get an even clearer understanding of the use of loglines, I searched up some famous ones, which I have listed below.

1. Forrest Gump: Several historical events from the 20th Century unfold from the perspective of an Alabama man with an IQ of 75, whose only real desire is to reunite with his childhood sweetheart.

2. Titanic: A seventeen-year-old aristocrat falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic.

3.Legally Blonde: A fashionable sorority queen is dumped by her boyfriend and so decides to follow him to law school, where she figures out that there is more to her than just looks.

4.Spider-Man: A high school student is bitten by a genetically-altered spider and gains superhuman strength and spider-like ability, vowing to use his abilities to fight crime.

5.Finding Nemo: When his son is swept out to sea, an anxious clownfish embarks on a perilous journey across a treacherous ocean to bring him back.

My Logline :

Here is my amateur and unpolished attempt at coming up with a suitable logline:

"A whimsical girl finds herself being chased by an ominous entity in a lucid dream - what is it?"
